Internet addiction affects physical relationships as they won’t communicate normally or be able to regulate their emotions (PsychologyToday, 2024). Internet addiction can result in poor performance at school or work as you will spend more time doing useless things on your device (PsychologyToday, 2024). Internet addiction can cause insomnia which is not sleeping well (General, 2019). You tend to not keep your hygiene on track, and not eating regularly, can cause headaches, backaches, and dry eyes from looking at the screen for too long (General, 2019).
How to beat internet addiction, talk to someone closer to you might be your parents or guardian or you can go to the doctor (General, 2019). Turn off notifications on your social media channel so that you will be less tempted to use your phone (General, 2019). Try to use free apps to track internet addiction like Screen Time Companion and Break-free Cell Phone Addiction (General, 2019). Do something you enjoy that doesn't involve the internet (General, 2019). Talk to others about internet addiction they will help you to overcome it (General, 2019). Pay attention when you are utilizing the internet or mobile apps (General, 2019). It is acceptable to make use of the Internet or mobile apps for homework or other important purposes (General, 2019).
